How to deal with anxiety?
Anxiety is a term to describe how we feel when we are under stress, worried, tense or afraid about situtions and events that are, or we think may be about to happen.
The good news is people like you are able to stop anxiety by learning how they process things internally, and making changes to them. Hypnotherapy, NLP & CBT are all powerful tools to make these changes.
Remember, Its common to feel anxious during life, especially when a big life changing event, its not good to stay in that state of mind. It makes us aware we need to pay attention to something.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a part of our Freeze, Flight, Fight process and as such is a natural human response when we perceive a threat to our wellbeing. It can be experienced through our thoughts, feelings and 5 senses. It becomes a problem when we cannot let it go for whatever reason.
The good news is many people are able to stop anxiety by learning how they process things internally, and making changes to them. Hypnotherapy, NLP & CBT are all powerful tools to make these changes.

Anxiety can become a mental health problem, if it affects the way you live your life, causing other issues...
If you're experiencing any physical symptoms it's best to talk to your GP initially, so they can check out what may be causing them.
It can become a challenge if:
- you have feelings of anxiety that are very strong or long lasting
- your fears or worries are out of proportion to the situation
- you avoid situations that might cause you to feel anxious
- your worries feel very distressing or are hard to control
- you regularly experience symptoms of anxiety, which could include panic attacks
Common Effects of Anxiety on your body
This list in not exhaustive, and can include:
- a churning feeling in your stomach
- feeling light-headed or dizzy
- pins and needles
- feeling restless or unable to sit still
- headaches, backache or other aches and pains
- faster breathing
- a fast, thumping or irregular heartbeat
- sweating or hot flushes
- insomnia and other sleep problems
- nightly teeth grinding
- feeling sick
- having to use the toilet more or less often
- changes in your sex drive
- panic attacks
Effects of anxiety on your mind
- feeling tense or nervous
- inablity to relax or wind down
- having a sense of dread, fearing the worst
- feeling like the world is passing you by
- feeling like you can't stop worrying,
- worrying about anxiety itself,
- worrying about if or when a panic attack might come on
- wanting lots of reassurance from those around you,
- worrying that others are angry or upset with you
- worrying that you're losing touch with reality
- being moody and depressed
- constantly thinking about bad experiences and past events
- overthinking a situation repeatedly
- feelings of dissociation caused by you feeling disconnected from your mind or body
- feelings of dissociation where you feel disconnected from the world around you
- worrying a situations and/or events that might or might not happen
Causes of Anxiety
There is no clear cut cause of anxiety, in NLP we consider it can be a result of poor or unsupportive mental strategies resulting in a feeling of anxiety. The good news is these can be changed quite quickly in the majority of cases.
As eveyone is unique, the actual cause is unique also, generally speaking the following are considered some of the possible causes:
- Past physical and mental abuse
- Neglect and being abandoned
- Bullying
- Exhaustion
- Change or uncertainty
- Un-employment or other work issues
- Financial challenges and problems
- Homelessness
- Isolation
- Worrying about the environment
- Losing someone close to you, a freind or loved one
- Feeling lonely or isolated
- Being abused, bullied or harassed.
- Uncertainty in life
There is help available, Hypnotherapy, NLP, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy are all effective at helping with anxiety, and the reason(s) why people feel that way.
